Melisa is a masters level counseling intern working towards a dual degree in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. Melissa has four years of counseling experience in school settings, and she is excited to develop my skills as a clinical mental health counselor. While Melissa is still developing her areas of specialty, she has worked primarily with adolescents and their caregivers, supporting them as they worked through issues of anxiety, depression, stress, family conflict, school and/or behavior challenges, and identity crises.
Melissa approaches counseling as a collaboration between the client and counselor, with a focus on each client’s needs and strengths throughout the healing journey. Melissa serves as a nonjudgemental, empathetic support system as they identify and work towards their goals while also helping them recognize barriers, unhelpful patterns, and other obstacles getting in their way. When appropriate, Melissa will help clients communicate with their loved ones about their needs and connect them and their families with outside resources.
